Cherish Beauty

This is the last card that I made for Rhonda’s birthday…

Cherish Beauty:

This card is made in honor of our Tim Holtz classes… I used Grungeboard, idea-ology embellishments and it has an overall grungy look - this is my favorite card. On the back I put the information for our classes so that she will look at this tag and always remember her gift!

See the leaf vine made from plain grungeboard? It’s a new stamp from Wendy Vecchi - she’s my second favorite artist in this industry (sorry Wendy but Tim is my number one man - Oh - you could be my number one woman!!!!). She recently came out with her own stamp line - if you are looking for some inspiration visit her Studio 490 blog here.

The background colors were achieved by swiping inks on a craft sheet, misting with water and then putting the office tag in the moist inks, letting dry and repeating until I liked the color.

I better put on more sun screen and I hope my credit card is not melting from too much shopping!!! Thanks for visiting!

Beauty in Black and White

I love Black and White cards… They are so elegant and really show off your image. This is another card for Rhonda’s birthday!

Beauty in Black and White:

You can’t really see it in the picture but there is sewing around a couple of the panels. The black mesh is left over screening from when my DH built a screen door for my Studio (I’d use this on cards but not in a scrapbook - I doubt it’s archival safe). See the cute cubby paper clip - that’s one of the new clips from SU.

Image the sand between my toes… Thanks for the visit!

Happy Birthday Rhonda!

Today is my BEST BEST BEST girlfriends birthday and I am lucky that she is more than a girlfriend - she is part of our family - Rhonda is my sister-in-law! We’ve been friends FOREVER and to celebrate her birthday we are on the way to spend time at the beach!

For her birthday I got her two days with Tim Holtz - yes THE Tim Holtz! We will be spending two days in classes with him on Oct 18th and 19th … (hmmm just as much a gift for me huh - I‘m a lucky girl too - Jumping for joy!!!) So that she would have something to open now I also bought her a bunch of Tim’s metal embellishment line from idea-ology.

I made her a few cards that will be posting while I’m off at the beach! I hope you enjoy them - they are all made with one of Rhonda’s favorite images - Girl with Flowing hair…

Beauty in Paradise:

This one has a beachy feel to me.

Afternoon Flowers

Today’s card is for a very close friend’s Birthday (a lot of my friends have BD in September - what’s up with that???) - Happy Birthday Linda!!!

Afternoon Flowers:

I’ve been hoarding the Afternoon Tea paper forever - so yesterday I cut into it… You see Linda is a flower and blue girl - I know blue and orange daisies - not something naturally in nature but the color combo is great! Each of the flowers is three layers popped up on dimensionals.

I am surprised to see the number of tree limbs we have down today - the wind that we experienced last night from Ike was freaky - wind going round in a circles. I hope that you and your family are safe and well today!

Thanks for the visit!

Nature Distressed ISCC12

Today’s Innovative Stamp Creations challenge is a Sketch found at Witty Living - you can view it here .

Nature Distressed:

Ever wonder if the trees are "distressed" in the fall - stuggling to hold on to their leaves because they are not yet ready of the long winter to begin?
As you can see I did modify the sketch to fit my idea - I believe that is what sketch challenges are intended for - keep the general concept but make it your own.

The pattern paper I made using a background stamp and the smallest tree from the Maple Tree Painting set. I added lots of sponging and distressing - even some tearing and crumbling.

ICSC12 Challenge Details:

Make a card based on the sketch using only Innovative Stamp Creations images. You have until Sept 21st to complete and you will be entered to win a stamp sheet of your choice! For all the details visit the Innovative Stamp Creations blog here .

Join us and play along!

Stinkin Cute Birthday

I borrowed this stamp set from a friend - it’s not really my style but I thought it was the perfect image for a friend’s Birthday. Happy Birthday Annette!!!

Stinkin Cute:

The inside of the card says: You May be a Year Older BUT You’re Still Marvelous Darling! Happy Birthday!

One thing that I was excited about is that I could use my Fun Flock on the skunk - look at her tail, tummy and head.

Flock Close Up:

Purple is Annette’s favorite color and, well, I think it’s my least favorite color - but I’ve been saving this designer paper for her. To tie the entire card together I doodled in black onto the paper - I think the black pulls your eyes around the card - or maybe I’m just nuts and trying to make the purple work for me???

Have a Stinkin Fabulous Day and thanks for the visit!

Time Triptych

Time… Moments of Joy… Unlocked

I thought I would look up the definition of Triptych to make sure that it fits this piece….

Triptych - n. A work of art composed of 3 hinged or folding panels.

Time Triptych:

I made this for the Bandanna challenge on the Ranger Yahoo Group for September. I’ve been wanting to try this technique for a while and the challenge was enough to kick my butt into gear!

You can pretty much call this technique Sponge-n-Doodle. The first time I noticed this technique was in the August Technique Junky Newsletter.

Since Tim Holtz (yes I still want to be as creative as he is when I grow up) is the Sr Designer for Ranger and I love his Idea-ology line I thought I would incorporate lots of his hardware and even a piece of his Grungeboard.

So - some close ups:

Sprockets/Gears:

I don’t really know which is a sprocket and which is a gear but these are my favorite do-dads in his Idea-ology line!

Philosophy Tag (yes I even doodled on this):

Grungeboard (perfect compliment to the Keys):

A few other details - each clock face has Glossy Accents, the hinges were made from a stamped image (Minibook Series) that I crumpled and rubbed with Gold rub-on paste, grunge is covered with black ink and rubbed with the gold paste.

Looks like this post was long winded - if you stuck with me Thanks for the Visit!!!

Winter Woods

I wanted to show you the versatility of the Walk in the Woods stamp - it’s not just for fall scenes…

Winter Woods:

The scene was stamped on glossy paper and sponged with shades of blue to create the sky. The chipboard snowflake was painted with white acrylic paint and then covered with Iridescent Ice embossing powder (I know you can’t see the shimmer in the picture - but it’s there!).

Let’s hope scenes like this winter one (brrrr) are a LOOOOONNNNNGGGG way off! Enjoy the Sunshine!

Happy Stamping!

Today

…is the day for all of the Nature image releases over at Innovative Stamp Creations - check out the blog for more information (and maybe a little special???).

I have another sample to share with you today using the Maple Tree Paintings images. This was actually the first card that I created from the new stamps.

Maple Tree:

In six weeks or so our yard will begin to look just like this tree. Our house is surrounded my 25 acres of woods and soon it will be full of the colors of fall - my favorite!

Some of the details - the image panels with the Maple and the leaves started as White CS. The tree and the leaves were embossed and all the colors were added by sponging. I love sponging because it give you a soft, muted effect.

TIP - to keep from getting a hard edge when you sponge rub your sponge on a piece of scrap paper first - work just a little of the ink off.

Enjoy Summer while it lasts!

As always, thanks for the visit!
